The 2015 UCI Annual Forum was held on November 27 at the Crowne Plaza hotel, Zhongguancun, Beijing. The theme of UCI’s 2015 Annual Forum is The 13thFive-Year Plan: Innovation and Future of Cities. The agenda of UCI Annual Forum was adressing key topics related to the 13th Five-Year Plan with a special focus on “Internet +”, “Consumer City” and “Urban Regeneration”. The 13th five-year national development plan will provide a blueprint for the country’s economic and social development in the next years. Keynote speakers included Yang Weimin (Vice Minister, Office of Central Leading Group on Finance and Economic Affairs), Chen Zhangliang (Former Vice Governor, People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region), Xu Lin (Director, Development Planning Department, NDRC) and Xue Lan (Co-Chair, UCI; Professor and Dean, School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University) Daan Roggeveen moderated the panel ‘Urban Regeneration’ with Professor Liu Hongyu (Tsinghua University) Annette Erpenstein (China Representative, German Association of Architects), and Andrew Bryant & Jasmine Tillu (Founders,Creative Urban Development). UCI is a collaborative initiative of Tsinghua University, Columbia University and McKinsey & Co. It aims to advance the research and practice of urban development in China by supporting and convening its leading thinkers and practitioners. Through close cooperation with national entities, UCI is having an impact on the development of China’s urban policy.Each year at the Annual Forum, UCI bringstogether international and Chinese urban scholars, NGO leaders, policy-makers and corporate representatives to discuss urban issues and trends, to inspire innovative ideas for solutions, and to create a network of multi-sector urban experts.
